Runner-up title and play-off semi-final: FC Südtirol's season was good, but not perfect. It was the same with the FCS squad: there were surprises and disappointments. Players who were consistent and others who disappeared in the crucial moments. Here you can find an overview and also: the promoted team, the relegated team and the surprise of the FCS season!

Hannes Fink The captain has developed into a leader. Rittner is leading the way not only in the dressing room, but also on the field. He is an unpleasant opponent, provokes and puts himself at the service of the team - a real captain. However, Fink lacks the final punch: he is always good, but rarely decisive. Nevertheless: Fink has had the best season of his career and has blossomed into a very good midfielder in Serie C. Rocco Costantino The Italian-Swiss, who was in Serie D last year, was a direct hit. 13 goals in the championship, 3 in the play-offs. Without Costantino, the FCS would never have gotten this far. And that even though he was only planned as a backup before the season. It was lucky that the FCS didn't get a striker of quality. The 27-year-old is a real snapper and always stands where a goalscorer needs to be. What he was missing was a quality player next to him - because despite all his goalscoring qualities, Costantino also has strong limits. Someone who could hold and distribute the balls would have been worth their weight in gold for Costantino: a guy like Viterbese attacker Jefferson. Paolo Frascatore The unlucky raven of Cosenza. The Roman had shown an outstanding performance until the own goal in the 94th minute. And that despite the fact that he never once played as the central man in a three-man chain - a sign of quality. Frascatore was extremely consistent throughout the season, making few mistakes and showing that he is basically too good for Serie C. It was clear that the defender would hardly be able to stay in the FCS: he was drawn to Carpi one league higher. Daniel Offredi Hardly any keeper in Serie C has mastered the basics as well as the FCS goalkeeper: strong on the line, confident when running out, good control of the penalty area. Added to this was his experience, which came into play particularly in the play-offs. If there is one criticism that can be made against him, it is that he is sometimes too hesitant when taking corners and free kicks and has small technical weaknesses when playing with the ball. But that's complaining at a high level. Martin Erlic and Kevin Vinetot For years, FC Südtirol didn't have a league-ready central defender in its squad - this year even several. Former sports director Aladino Valoti did a great job here. It was clear that the experienced Vinetot was a player of stature. But Erlic, who came from the Primavera championship, is a surprise. It took him little time to adapt to professional football. And there's a reason for that: the Croatian has huge potential and has everything a defender needs. Keeping Erlic will be impossible. Coach Paolo Zanetti From no-name to sought-after trainer. The youngest coach in Italian professional football has shown what is important: hard work, tactical flexibility, strong team leadership. Zanetti is popular with his players, knows how to bring a group together and is top professional. Fink said months ago that Zanetti would end up in Serie A. We can only agree with that. Michael Ci The Montanan never exploited his potential in his football career. The past season is a reflection of this. Starting as a regular player, he lost his place in the team to U20 national player Jeremy Broh. Before the play-offs, Cia completely disappeared into obscurity, only to score the much-celebrated last-minute winning goal against Cosenza. Cia, now 30 years old, didn't make his breakthrough at FCS this year either. He remains an eternal talent. Emmanuel gyasi If the FCS season had ended after the championship, he would have earned top marks: 8 assists, 4 goals. But the play-offs were a disaster for the Palermo-born Italo-Ghanaian. First the suspension, then the unfortunate 45-minute appearance at home against Viterbese with almost a dismissal and an ankle injury. When he was back in Cosenza, he remained pale and the FCS was eliminated. Gyasi's season is an uncrowned one - from a team but also a personal perspective. Leonardo candellone Brought in as storm reinforcements in the winter, Candellone was left with a lot to spare. He wasn't the perfect complement to Costantino, the two didn't gel on and off the field. It was his performance in the Drususstadion against Viterbese in which he showed off his skills. Otherwise, the Torino loan often seemed sluggish and technically unclean. Fabian Tait The Salurner has had another good season. Tait had no competition in his position but showed why the FCS is relying on him: an upcoming leading player who still has potential for improvement. But: The play-offs weren't his thing, the vice-captain looked out of form. He had big problems in Viterbo and seemed a bit inhibited in the remaining games. Anyone who becomes a professional footballer at the age of 27 and then scores 16 times has more than earned the title “Newcomer of the Season”. Costantino is a likeable guy who also captivated fans with his combative nature and his worker image. The relegated team of the season Luca Bertoni

In the summer of 2016, the midfield director played in the Champions League qualifiers (with Partizani against Salzburg). Now he is a reservist at FC Südtirol. Bertoni is a player with stature and many qualities - especially in possession of the ball. But with his delicate nature, he quickly fell behind coach Zanetti and also had strong competition from Luca Berardocco. When he was banned from the play-offs, eighth seed Jeremie Broh was even preferred to him - a bitter pill to swallow. The surprise of the season Filippo Sgarbi

Last year Sgarbi, who trained at Inter and still belongs to the Milan team, played in Serie D. Tait already showed that the 4th division is not a bad school. Sgarbi quickly gained favor in the defensive center of the three-man defense and, at the age of 20, acted as hardened as if he had already had many years as a professional under his belt. Sgarbi is excellently trained tactically, can anticipate well and is strong at building up the game. A promise for the future.
