Happy faces at the end of the city and village running series

More than 1.000 participants in a total of 10 runs, plus countless starters in the trial category: The 43rd VSS/Raiffeisen city and village running series was once again a great success. Around 360 runners didn't want to miss the conclusion of the state championships in Niederdorf.

“It was a fantastic weekend for the VSS athletics department. First the grand Euregio final of the Sprint Champion in Innsbruck and then a final of the VSS/Raiffeisen city and village running series perfectly organized by ASV Niederdorf,” said VSS chairman Paul Romen happily.

In fact, the numbers of the popular running series are still impressive in its 43rd year of operation: More than 1.000 participants took part in the ten events in 2023 - many of them even started at all ten runs. So it was only logical that the final took place in Niederdorf with a great atmosphere and optimal conditions. From the youngest in the trial category to the 65+ category, 360 runners took part in the final national championships.

Tschurtschenthaler and Agethle win

From a sporting perspective, the day's winners were Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, who won the women's race in 15:15 minutes ahead of Julia Kuen, and Matthias Agethle, who was successful in 27:21 minutes ahead of Yuri Trentin. Everyone in Niederdorf was among the winners anyway: OC boss Karl Egarter and his team ensured optimal running conditions and the runners showed strong personal performances. “When you see that 5-year-old runners were at the start in the trial category just like the 80-year-old senior, then you see what the VSS/Raiffeisen city and village runs can achieve,” summed up a visibly satisfied VSS runner. Speaker Reinhold Rogen.
