Merano women dominate the Italian mountain running championships

The SC Meran athletes were unstoppable. In the U18 age category, Lisa Kerschbaumer clearly won over Axelle Vicari (Aosta) and Trentino's top favorite Luna Giovanetti (both 4,03 minutes) on the 17.23 km long route in 18.33 minutes. Emily Vucemillo and Nike Frick, also from SC Meran, came sixth and ninth respectively. Coach Hans Ladurner's team took their next victory in the U16 category. Anna Hofer won in 9.57 minutes ahead of Lucia Arnoldo (10.20) and her teammate Sofia Demetz (10.24). Emma Ghirardello Pichler and Eva Hölzl had to settle for 13th and 24th place respectively. For Demetz it was the second Italian championship title in a month, after she had already won the “Tricolore” in the relay in Malonno. As a result, SC Meran also grabbed both team rankings. In the U18 category, the Kurstadt women prevailed with 107 points ahead of Polisportiva Sant'Orso Aosta (72) and ASD Rigaudo (65) and were crowned the new Italian champions. In the U16 category, the Merano women were once again able to clearly assert themselves ahead of Bellunoatletica (203) and Atletica Valle Brembana (174) with 147 points. For Ladurner it was already the Italian championship titles number 59 and 60. Samuel Demetz, Sofia's older brother, also achieved a top result. The runner from ASV Gherdeina was crowned Italian runner-up in the U18 race in 15.40 minutes behind Mattia Zen (15.26) from Como. Relay Italian champion Elia Mattio completed the podium in 15.51 minutes. The 18-year-old Katja Pattis from the South Tyrol Team Club, however, took sixth place in the junior race in Mompantero in 33.49 minutes. Merano women dominate the Italian mountain running championships

The U16 and U18 Italian mountain running championships took place on Saturday in Venaus in Piedmont. Lisa Kerschbaumer from Tramin and Anna Hofer from Partschins, both from the Meran Sports Club, won the championship title.
