Two South Tyrolean medals at the Italian Championships in Brixen

The Marion's (Kastl, editor's note) performance was phenomenal. It's not every year that you become Italian champion and Marion has now made it for the second time. For me, the fact that we are always successful, especially in the hurdle races, is due to the fact that Hurdle racing is part of our diverse training program from an early age and that we have specialized trainers."

A total of 82 Italian champions were crowned in Brixen. Three Italian records also fell over the three days. In addition, some athletes moved to the top of the European annual rankings. On the final day, Daniele Secci hit the 6 kg ball at 20.61 m. This is a new junior Italian record and at the same time a European record this year. Alessia didn't give herself any consolation either. The U18 world champion won the high jump with 1.87. Across Europe only two athletes have been better so far this year.

Not only did some athletes shine in Brixen, but also the organizers around Bruno Cappello. “Brixen has once again lived up to its reputation as an excellent organizer after the unforgettable 2009 World Cup,” said Fidal state president Armin Bonamico. And people in Brixen are already looking forward to the all-around European Cup in two weeks. As was announced today on the sidelines of the event, national coach Bruno Cappello has appointed Lukas Lanthaler from Vipiteno to the Italian selection.
