“The engineers have a duty,” said the 35-year-old after finishing 14th at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hülkenberg referred to the recent successes of the McLaren team, which was at the back of the field behind Haas at the start of the season. After massive updates to the car, Brit Lando Norris recently finished second in Silverstone and Budapest.
“It’s brutally impressive, it’s making waves. “That has to be our example that something is possible,” said Hülkenberg on Sky about the significant progress at McLaren. In contrast, the German was often able to convince with strong results in qualifying, but often fell far behind the points in the races.

“That’s how it is with us at the moment. There’s nothing we can do other than continue to work on the car and try to solve our problems,” said Haas team boss Günter Steiner. Others could increase their speed, but his team is currently unable to do so, the South Tyrolean admitted.
Numbers speak volumes
In the drivers' standings, Hülkenberg is in 14th place with nine points. Teammate Kevin Magnussen, on the other hand, has only collected two points. In the constructors' rankings, Haas is tied for seventh place with Williams. Both racing teams have eleven points to their credit. Only Alfa Romeo (9) and Alpha Tauri (2) have even fewer. The gap to the sixth-placed Alpine team (47) is huge for Haas.Suggestions
