The cyclists will compete on Saturday in Niederdorf.

Curtain up for South Tyrol's largest mountain bike event

The Dolomiti Superbike in Niederdorf is just around the corner! Numerous top bikers will take part in the prestigious classic in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region on Saturday - including last year's winners Leonardo Paez and Claudia Peretti.

These names read like the squad for a world championship: Leonardo Paez (Colombia), Tiago Ferreira (Portugal), Urs Huber (Switzerland), Martin Stosek (Czech Republic), local hero Fabian Rabensteiner – they will all be on the 123-kilometer route on Saturday can be found and fight for the day's victory. Whoever will win in the end will have to prove themselves on the demanding track. The name Leonardo Paez is of course very popular. The South American, who will celebrate his 40th birthday next Monday, has already triumphed four times at the Dolomiti Superbike. Now the Colombian is chasing the fifth trick. Will someone spoil his early birthday party?

But the women's field also makes people sit up and take notice with some great things. Claudia Peretti's participation has recently been confirmed. The Piedmont native dominated the Italian marathon scene last year and capped her incredible season with a bronze medal at the European Championships.

Claudia Peretti is starting as last year's winner.

On Saturday, after the starting signal at 7.25:XNUMX a.m., Peretti has to fend off attacks from Katazina Sosna from Lithuania, the German Adelheid Morath and another Italian, Debora Piana. The ingredients for a memorable spectacle in the spirit of mountain biking, where even an outsider can take part, are definitely there.

Three distances and almost 3000 registrations

On Saturday, the focus will not only be on the elite bikers. The heart of the Dolomiti Superbike are the countless hobby riders who will take to one of the three routes with sporting ambitions. The 123 kilometers are the most demanding - not only because of the length, but also because of the 3400 meters of altitude that have to be pedaled down in the saddle of the bike. The average distance is 85 kilometers long and has an altitude of 2360 meters. A short distance of “only” 60 kilometers and 1570 meters of altitude is also on the program.

Overall, the organizers around OK boss Kurt Ploner now have almost 2900 registrations, which corresponds to an increase of over 15 percent compared to last year. The Dolomiti Superbike thus once again underlines its appeal, because hardly any passionate mountain biker, both nationally and internationally, can miss the race in the breathtaking 3 Peaks Dolomite region.
“Nothing should stand in the way of a great sports festival.” OC boss Kurt Ploner

“We are ready and can hardly wait to host the 28th Dolomiti Superbike. The many registrations in the last few days came as a bit of a surprise, but we are very pleased and prove that our brand is strong and has a great attraction for bikers from home and abroad. The weather also promises to be good, so nothing should stand in the way of a great sports festival,” says OC boss Kurt Ploner, who also pulled the strings at the premiere in 1995.
