The national champions have been chosen.

These are South Tyrol's best indoor archers

Last Sunday, the 2024 Indoor State Archery Championship took place in the Lana Middle School gymnasium.

The new national champions in indoor archery have been determined.

A total of eleven titles were awarded: the Arco Club Laives won most of them, namely four. This was followed by the archery section in the Merano sports club with three and the ASV Freienfeld with two.

Almost 70 athletes from all over South Tyrol took to the firing line at this year's title fights in the Olympic Recurve, Compound and Barebow archery classes. In addition to those from the archery section of the Merano sports club, which organized the national championship, archers from the clubs Arco Club Laives, Arcieri Bolzano, Arcieri Pusteresi, SV Kaltern, SSV Brixen and ASV Freienfeld were also represented. There were also another 40 participants from Trentino and Lombardy. Their results were included in the national ranking; they did not take part in the national championship itself.

In the Olympic Recurve archery class, Maximlian Winkler was once again in a class of his own. The archer from Arco Club Laives mastered the qualification with an outstanding result of 540 points and easily made his way to the final in the knockout phase. In the decisive match he beat Christian Badalini from the Merano sports club 6-0 and was thus crowned national champion. Winkler's club colleague Michele Terlizzi completed the podium in third place.

The club from Unterlandler Apfelstadt and especially Michela Piazzolla also had every reason to celebrate among the recurve women. The woman from Leifer is one of the strongest archers in the country and is extremely difficult to defeat. With 6:0, 6:0 and 7:3 in the quarter, semi and final, she secured the gold medal with almost no mistakes. Silver went to Linda Sira Nicolussi from SV Kaltern, bronze went to Lea Pircher from SCM.

In the Compound bow class, Hartmann Eller impressively demonstrated the precision he has in his blood. The athlete from ASV Freienfeld prevailed in an exciting final against Aljoscha Kienzl from the Meran sports club and was crowned national champion again after 2020. Etienne Bortolotti (SCM) was happy about the bronze medal.
Denise Maffia from Arco Club Laives had an easy time with the women. She won gold without competition.

The barebow men had a close race for the title. The two experienced archery oldies Milanko Kulundzija from the SCM and Luciano Bettoni from the Arcieri Bolzano gave each other little or nothing. In the end, the sprightly 70-year-old Kulundzija had the upper hand and won the final encounter against his opponent from the Talferstadt with 6:4. Michele Guerrini took third place, so the bronze medal also went to Meran.

The women’s final was no less exciting, where Nadia Eisenstecken mastered the mission of “defending her title” with flying colors. The archer from SSV Brixen gave Maria Ambach from SV Kaltern no chance when the final score was 6-0. Katia Alfi from Arco Club Laives won the bronze medal.
