Sebastian Coe as successor to IOC boss Thomas Bach?

Olympic all-around competition in Paris

The resistance to IOC President Thomas Bach's plans to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in the Olympic Games in Paris next year under certain conditions is met with considerable resistance, especially among the track and field athletes led by their president Lord Sebastian Coe. Meanwhile, our columnist Sigi Heinrich could even imagine that Coe will succeed Bach in the highest office of the IOC in two years.

I could easily imagine Sebastian Coe, who is a member of the House of Lords in England, becoming President of the IOC, although the rejection of Bach's proposal regarding the Russian and Belarusian athletes should in no way be understood as cheap saber-rattling . Coe is not taking advantage of the situation to collect votes for possible involvement at the top of the Olympic Movement.
