VSS/Raiffeisen Winter State Cup: Skier final

Over 20 athletes from the clubs SC Meran, Lebenshilfe, ASV Sport & Friends and GSA Grole Bolzano defied the bad weather and took part in an exciting 25th Alpine ski race on Sunday, February 5th and thus the big VSS/Raiffeisen Winter State Cup Alpine skiing finals for people with disabilities.

The award ceremony then took place in the clubhouse in Gasteig (Ratschings). In addition to the daily winners, the overall winners of the individual categories and the winners of the team competition were also awarded. ASV Sport & Friends in particular were able to collect some gold medals. Overall, the club won gold in eight out of ten possible categories in the fifth race and was also able to take home the winner's trophy in the team competition.

“A great day with lots of smiling faces and a good mood that we all enjoyed,” said ASV Sport & Friends President Luise Huebser Markart. Martha Stocker, chairwoman of the Special Olympics South Tyrol and VSS chairman Paul Romen also emphasize: “All athletes did their best today and can be proud of their performance despite the difficult racing conditions.” They warmly thanked the participating athletes, initiators, carers, parents and volunteers. A special thank you went to the VSS speaker for disabled sports, Markus Kompatscher, and to the trainers Matthias Haller and Karl Hofer, who developed the regulations for this racing series.
