The tennis national champions were crowned.

These are the successors of Jannik Sinner & Co.

Over 500 children took part in the FITP-VSS/Raiffeisen Tennis Promo Grand Prix this year. Now the national champions in the U10, U13 and U18 categories were determined in St. Georgen and the numerous spectators got to see exciting encounters and high-class youth tennis.

In 2010, South Tyrol's tennis star Jannik Sinner won the national championship title in the VSS championship and who knows whether one of this year's national champions will also pursue a professional career in tennis. VSS chairman Paul Romen, head of the tennis section of St. Georgen and board member of the National Tennis Association (FITP) Roland Sandrin and VSS tennis speaker Stefanie Unterweger as well as numerous spectators were able to convince themselves of the great talent of the young tennis players. ASC St. Georgen ensured that all games from Thursday, August 24th to Sunday, August 27th went off without a hitch.

The games were played in the age groups U18, U13, U10 and U8. While the focus for the youngest players is on their versatility and having fun without rankings or results, the players in the U10 and older category determined the season's winners. “There is great enthusiasm for tennis in South Tyrol. “The focus of the championship is on the versatility and the joy of sport for the children and young people,” said Unterweger.

Philipp Bodner (SSV Pfalzen) won the boys category and Julia Ciechi (TC Gherdeina) was able to hold her own among the girls. Nikolai Spirito from ASV Völs became national champion in the U13 category and last year's winner in this category was also able to assert himself among the older ones this year. This year, Terlano Adrian Jackòw won the national championship title in the U18 category. In the U13 girls category, Theresa Gasser (TC Rungg) made it to the highest podium and in the U18 girls category, the new national champion is Lara Stefanie Bodi (TC Auer).
