Plunger wins South Tyrol duel at the ITF tournament in Bolzano

On Monday, the $25.000 ITF tournament in Bolzano was really busy for the first time. The program marked the end of the qualification and at the same time the start of the first round of the main field.

In the qualification, all eyes were initially on the duel between the two South Tyroleans Manuel Plunger and Christian Fellin. The 21-year-old from Partschins and Brixner, who is two years younger, fought a fight that lasted almost two and a half hours, at the end of which Plunger had the upper hand 6:4, 7:5.

For Fellin the tournament at the TC Bozen facility has already ended, for Plunger it continues in the main field on Tuesday. The Kalterer wild card player Maximilian Figl is also in action here and will face a qualifier at the start.

Rispoli plays big

Nicola Rispoli has already had his first round match - and it didn't go quite as planned. Although the outsider from Merano held up surprisingly well against the French tournament favorite Mathys Erhard (ATP 341) in the evening game on Center Court and also won a set, in the end he was completely exhausted with 2:6, 6:4, 6:0 give up.

In addition to the top seed Erhard, the Argentinian Alex Barrena (ATP 406), who was in second place, also made it into the second round. He clearly defeated the Italian Davide Galoppini 6:1, 6:3.
