Sparkassen Trophy: Prader misses the final

Prader was a losing cause in the first set because Basilashvili played very well and didn't let the Barbian come into play at all. The South Tyrolean probably still had the hard quarter-final match against Simone Vagnozziin in his bones and said after the lost semi-final: "It was brutally hard to get out of bed this morning. In the second half of the game, Prader was already 2:5 behind and everything pointed to a quick decision. But with Basilashvili the thread broke, Prader scored 18 (!) points in a row and with the second break in a row, Prader pulled away to 6:5. Prader was able to counter immediately, even if he first had to cancel two break points, and had three break opportunities in the following game, but Basilashvili was able to destroy them all and ultimately took the lead 5:4. The Georgian then closed the bag.

"Of course I'm disappointed because I could have won this game. But all in all I can be more than satisfied with my performance here. Thanks to the many fans who supported me. There aren't many tournaments in which I play and so many spectators come," said the Barbian after the game.

Matteo Trevisan without losing a set in the final

Azzurro Matteo Trevisan (ATP 439) stormed into the final in a completely different way. Trevisan has not lost a set in four matches in Rungg - even against the Belgian Niels Desein (ATP 219), who, like Trevisan, had not dropped a set and only twelve games before the semi-finals, maintained his inviolability. 7:5 6:3 the result after about an hour and a half of play. However, the match was completely open until it was 7:5 3:3, and at 3:3 in the second set Trevisan even had to fend off break points. When he played the game anyway and scored a break, the match was over.

Although Desein is around 200 places ahead of Trevisan in the world rankings, Azzurro is better than the world rankings would suggest. Trevisan didn't play any tournaments from June 2012 to February 2013 due to injury and therefore didn't have any points to defend until the end of the year - as a result, the current world rankings undervalue him. He has played extremely effectively in Rungg so far. He takes the ball early and keeps the rallies relatively short.

Aguilar/Lizariturry win doubles The first title has already been awarded today. The Chilean Jorge Aguilar and the Spaniard Juan Lizariturry prevailed in the doubles final against the top seeds Italians Daniele Giorgini/Matteo Volante in the super tiebreak with 4:6, 6:3, 10:7.
