Two South Tyroleans attack Val Gardena

Two more days and then the Sparkasse Challenger Val Gardena South Tyrol will be played for the first time. South Tyrol's most important tennis tournament (October 22nd to 29th) begins on Sunday with the qualification.

Starting Monday, this year's tournament, which has a prize money of 36.000 euros, will be held

The Italian tennis association FITP awarded the three wildcards for the main field to Enrico Dalla Valle (ATP number 314), Francesco Forti (ATP 351) and Lorenzo Rottoli (ATP 430). This means that there will be at least six Azzurri in the main draw, as the entry list also includes Federico Gaio, Francesco Maestrelli and Stefano Napolitano, who won the tournament in Val Gardena in 2016. Number 1 in the field will be the Frenchman Hugo Grenier. The world number 184 took part in the Challenger in Alicante two weeks ago

In the qualification, 24 players will play for 6 places in the main draw on Sunday and Monday. Here the Italian association awarded its wildcards to Peter Buldorini (ATP 1087) and Stefano D'Agostino (ATP 1658). D'Agostino comes from Arco and plays for TC Kaltern in Serie C. The organizers' two wildcards go to 22-year-old Pietro Orlando Fellin (ATP 1348) from Brixen and local hero Patric Prinoth. The 27-year-old from St. Christina won the “Wild Card Final” today against his training partners Erwin Tröbinger from Wolkenstein and Gabriel Moroder from St. Ulrich. Qualification and main draw will be drawn on Saturday.
