Biathlon star collapses and then sheds tears

The single mixed relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) brought the Italian team the silver medal. Immediately behind them was the successful duo from Norway. The emotions then went crazy for Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold.

Johannes Thnignes Bø has already won two gold and one silver in the individual decisions in Nove Mesto. His teammate in the single mixed relay, none other than the current overall World Cup leader Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, experienced a World Cup to forget, as she finished 25th, 34th and 27th in the sprint, individual and pursuit she made twelve errors. And it was exactly this standing shooting that was her downfall in the single mixed relay. Tandrevold, who had previously hit all the targets, lost her nerve in the gold fight against France, missed four times and fell behind Italy.

However, the joy of the medal outweighed the Norwegian duo. “We were very happy, especially me, because I had a much better day today,” Tandrevold said in a video on social media. “But then I spend 30 minutes in the press area and have to explain why I failed again. I'll accept that, but when it's the fifth day in a row it's tough. “I had a little nervous breakdown,” the Norwegian continues. “When I got home, this happened.”

Bø has her back

Tandrevold posted a video showing her arriving at the hotel. Bø's teammates sing a song written especially for them and even fire rockets. The 27-year-old fights back tears as a result. “Tell me you have the best teammates without saying you have the best teammates,” Tandrevold concludes her message.

In any case, she received a lot of support from her highly decorated teammate. “Ingrid only needed a total of four spares today, which meant she was just as good as me,” said Bø. "I'm proud of her. I think she has recognized that she is the best biathlete in Norway and knows the responsibility that comes with that.” The Norwegian duo's next chance for precious metal comes on Saturday when the relays take place in Nove Mesto.
