Brilliant victory! Vittozzi reaches for the big coup

What kind of performance was that from Lisa Vittozzi? The Italian secured victory in the sprint at the World Cup final in Canmore (Canada) and suddenly holds all the trump cards.

Vittozzi was 73 points behind Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold in the overall World Cup. This has melted to a measly 7 points. While Vittozzi celebrated her 6th World Cup victory with a flawless performance, Tandrevold had to settle for 17th place (she missed twice).

In addition, the 29-year-old from Sappada/Plodn also has a much better starting position than the Norwegian in the pursuit on Saturday (18.10:XNUMX p.m.). With two races to go, the fight for the overall World Cup couldn't be more exciting. Small consolation for Tandrevold: She at least secured the small ball for the Sprint World Cup on Thursday.

Vittozzi now in pole

Vittozzi is not only fighting against Tandrevold for the big ball, but also against Julia Simon and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet. The two French women each missed the target once and had to settle for 4th and 8th place. Braisaz-Bouchet is now 73 points behind Tandrevold in the overall World Cup, while Simon is 80 points behind.

Vittozzi fought for victory on Thursday with a brilliant final lap when she was able to keep Lou Jeanmonnot (France) and Lena Häcki-Gross (Switzerland) at bay. The South Tyroleans Rebecca Passler (52nd) and Hannah Auchentaller (54th) ended up outside the points, but at least qualified for the pursuit. Bitter for Passler: she only missed the last two shots. The young Italian Beatrice Trabucchi presented herself very strongly with 21st place.

The Biathlon World Cup in Canmore continues on Friday (17.40:XNUMX p.m.) with the men's sprint. The two pursuits are on the program on Saturday before the season ends on Sunday with the mass starts.
