Start with a podium: Vötter and Oberhofer step on the gas again

They dominated the premiere season in the women's doubles World Cup, and now they have also made a successful start to the second year: Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer.

Although it wasn't enough for the two South Tyroleans to win the first Toboggan World Cup in Lake Placid (USA), they did ensure a successful start to the season with third place.

The 28-year-old Vötter from Völs, who is concentrating fully on the doubles competition for the first time this winter, and her teammate from Rodengo, who is five years younger than her, offered two consistent rounds in which they each achieved the third-best running time. Consequently, the final result was third place.

Vötter and Oberhofer Only two duos had to admit defeat, namely the Austrian day winners Selina Egle and Lara Michaela Kipp and the German single-seater world champion Dajana Eitberg, who immediately finished second on the podium with the young Saskia Schirmer in her double-seater debut.

First victory for men

In the men's event, Americans Zachary di Grepgprop/Sean Hollander celebrated their first World Cup victory. Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner took sixth place at Mount Van Hoevenberg as the best Azzurri. Ivan Nagler/Fabian Malleier were ninth, Ludwig Rieder/Lukas Gufler took 13th place.
