Sports tobogganing: Simon Schwienbacher flies over everyone

At the weekend the national championship in sports tobogganing took place in Campill/Longiarü – Val Badia. Due to the warm and rainy conditions, the decisions were held in a single race on Saturday on a well-prepared track.

For the men, a close decision for the race victory was already announced during the training run - over 10 men were placed within a single second. Right in the middle, and only just behind the best training time, was Simon Schwienbacher. The ASC Laugen-Tisens tobogganer had never been able to achieve a daily best time until the weekend, but drove away from everyone on Saturday. He was the only one who crossed the finish line in less than 1:05 minutes and all the favorites were disappointed by his fast time. He relegated the ex aequo runners-up Meinhard Pircher (ASC Laugen-Tisens) and Maximilian Preindl (ASC Olang) to their places.

In the women's race, experienced tobogganer Theresa Hilpold from ASV Pfeffersberg was the favorite to win. She won ahead of the two Olangers Greta Ladstätter and Greta Nocker, who were able to confirm her improving form this winter. As in all previous races of the season, the winners of the double-seater competition came from ASC Laugen-Tisens. The Mair/Müller duo won ahead of the Torggler/Torggler brothers from ASV Latzfons-Verdings and the Frei/Frei brothers – also from ASC Laugen Tisens.

The national champions of the club rankings come from the young people from Villanders, who are ahead of the AMA Wengen/La Val and the ASV Villnöss. In the general class, ASC Laugen-Tesens was ahead of ASC Olang and ASV Jaufental.
