The man from Val Gardena took third place in the downhill. His teammate Gregorio Bernardi (Sestriere), who took silver, was also strong.
The 21-year-old perathoner from Wolkenstein completed the 2475-meter-long race track with a height difference of 669 meters in 1.19,52:0,47 minutes, making him 0,35 seconds slower than the new junior world champion Livio Hiltbrand from Switzerland. Another athlete from Italy, Bernardi (+XNUMX), came in between, rounding off the outstanding team result.
Thaler slips off the podium
Following the men, the young female racers were also in action. For a long time it looked like precious metal for Sara Thaler from Val Gardena. In the end, the 19-year-old from Ortisei took fourth place as the best Azzurra. Thaler was only 0,09 seconds short of bronze, which was taken by the Finnish Rosa Pohjolainen. Victory went to the Austrian Victoria Olivier, who achieved the best time of 1.08,39:0,01 minutes on the slightly shorter race track compared to the juniors. Silver was won by the Swiss Malorie Blanc, who was XNUMX seconds slower than the newly crowned junior world champion.The Junior World Championships will continue on Wednesday with the two Super-Gs and the team combination.
