After a sad retirement from skiing, a romantic wedding follows

A Swiss ski star has had an eventful few months - true to the motto: bad luck in games, good luck in love.

“Bad luck and good luck go hand in hand – somewhere you’re unlucky, then you’re lucky again.” This statement comes from ex-ski star Mauro Caviezel, he once made it in an interview with Swiss magazines. The topic of the conversation: How he met his girlfriend. “Because of my injury,” he answered in the interview. In June 2020, Caviezel tore his Achilles tendon, an absolute nightmare for a skier. But through this circumstance he found his Nina, the love of his life.

Now the wedding bells have rung for the Swiss couple. On Saturday, the former speed specialist and his sweetheart said yes. “I brought her home,” Caviezel wrote under a photo of himself carrying his wife.

He resigned in January with a heavy heart

And this is exactly where the quote mentioned at the beginning comes into play again. Because Caviezel, the overall Super-G winner from 2019, hasn't had an easy few months. At the beginning of the year he had to end his career with a heavy heart after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a fall in Lake Louise at the start of the season. What is particularly bitter: This was one of the first races in almost two years for Caviezel. Because in January 2021 he also suffered a traumatic brain injury during training, which kept him away from the ski slopes for a long time. A few months after the end of his career, the romantic wedding follows.
