Spectacle on the plane – and at the end “Odi” cheers

The giant slalom in Schladming offered a real heart-stopping finale for the many spectators - with the better end for Marco Odermatt. Things didn't look good for the superstar of the scene after the first round.

Odermatt won his 8th giant slalom in a row on the Planei on Tuesday. He was on the podium in this discipline 22 times in a row, including 17 times at the top. These numbers speak for themselves. The Swiss had ruined the first round in Schladming, was almost eliminated and started the final in eleventh place.

In the second round, “Odi” pressed the accelerator and achieved the fastest running time. The competition cut its teeth on his time. Only Manuel Feller could keep up. The half-time leader was still half a second ahead of Odermatt at the last split. At the finish he had to admit defeat to Odermatt by a measly 5 hundredths.

The Austrian not only missed out on his home win, but also his first giant slalom victory. But the ski party in Schladming will still go on. Best Azzurro was Filippo Della Vite in 8th place.

South Tyrolean strong

The best South Tyrolean was Hannes Zingerle in 13th place. The Gadertaler had never been better than 14th up to that point - last year in Schladming. Now the 28-year-old has gone one better on his “favorite slope”. For Zingerle, any giant slalom could take place on the Planei. By the way, his coach Peter Fill set the second round.

Alex Vinatzer also demonstrated his great slalom form. The man from Val Gardena ended up in 18th place on Tuesday. While Vinatzer is not at all satisfied with his slalom season, he has at least found a second discipline. “Vinnie” finished in the points in all 5 giant slaloms. On Wednesday (17.45:20.45 p.m./XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) there will be another night slalom on the Planei.
