The Ski Cross World Cup traveled to Arosa, Switzerland, earlier this week. The men's qualifying race for the competition on Tuesday (20.15:32 p.m.) took place on Monday. The best XNUMXnd athletes survived this elimination. Not among them were the South Tyroleans Yanick Gunsch and Dominik Zuech.
Both fell short of expectations, Zuech finished in 41st place (36,23 seconds), while Gunsch had to settle for 47th place (36,56 seconds). This put them over 2,5 seconds ahead of the fastest in the qualification, Adam Kappacher from Austria (33.61). Federico Tommasini from Italy, who came second, caused a stir. For comparison, he finished 6th at the World Championships in Georgia in February, celebrating his best result at the highest level.
The man who won World Championship gold at the time, Simone Deromedis, also qualified for the race on Tuesday in 17th place. There is a third Azzurro, Edoardo Zorzi, who finished in 28th place (35,47 seconds). Like Gunsch and Zuech, Davide Cazzaniga (36,66 seconds/46th place) failed in the qualification.
