Four Hills Tournament: Alex Insam shows off

The 72nd Four Hills Tournament is just around the corner. On Thursday the qualification for the first competition in Oberstdorf was on the agenda. The South Tyrolean Alex Insam was convincing across the board.

It is the annual highlight for every ski jumper on this planet – the Four Hills Tournament. Traditionally, the best athletes in Germany and Austria fight for the most important title of the season. The first qualification was on the program on Thursday.


The victory went to Andreas Wellinger. South Tyrol's only participant Alex Insam showed an excellent performance. The 26-year-old from Val Gardena had a very good jump and ended up in 19th place.

The remaining Italians also qualified and will compete in the first competition on Friday. Giovanni Bresadola (35th), Andrea Campregher (44th) and Francesco Cecon (45th) perfectly rounded off a successful day for Italian ski jumping.

The pairings for the first round on Friday:

Alex Insam (19.) – Daniel Andre Tande (32.)
Halvor Egner Granerud (16.) – Giovanni Bresadola (35.)
Stefan Kraft (7th) – Andrea Campregher (44.)
Michael Hayböck (6th) – Francesco Cecon (45.)
