Snowboard & Freestyle: Almost all World Cup athletes confirmed

After a great 2011/2012 season, in which the five World Cup victories and second place in the overall World Cup by Roland Filehner, as well as the junior world championship title in slopestyle by Marco Grigis from Colfosco, stood out, almost all of the South Tyrolean athletes from the previous year were confirmed. Only Nathalie Egger from Naturns was relegated from the parallel slalom World Cup team to the European Cup. However, the World Cup is not a thing of the past for Egger: over the course of the season she will have various opportunities to get promoted again.

For men and women, the World Cup parallel slalom team consists primarily of local athletes, namely: Meinhard Erlacher, Roland Filehner, Aaron March, Christoph Mick, Nadya Ochner and Andrea Tribus. In boardercross, however, Omar Visintin and Emanuel Perathoner from South Tyrol will continue to compete for the Italian national team in the World Cup races.

Simon Gruber from Auer is new to the group of halfpipe specialists. The Unterlander was crowned double Italian champion in April, namely in Big Air and Slopestyle.

For ski crossers, however, former Ski World Cup athlete Stefan Thanei from Burgeis and Stefan Miribung from Val Badia are trying out for the Italian national team.

The President of the Italian Winter Sports Federation FISI, Flavio Roda, has approved the teams and coaching staff of snowboarders and freestylers for the 2012-2013 season proposed by the racing director Cesare Pisoni.
