Kiens surprises the Sarnerinnen

They showed on the last match day against Sarnthein that they can and want to stay in the league this season. As the reigning runners-up, the Sarnthein team were the clear favorites, but Jasmin Santer & Co. were not impressed and won 5:1 after a strong team performance.

The average of 530 pins alone shows that Kiens was in good shape last Saturday on the home track at the Gasthof Waldruh. But also the way in which they won the duels: Martha Lechner (Kiens) and Nina Oberhofer (Sarnthein) were the first to go. Lechner only knocked down 5 pins more in total (535:530), but had thus won 2,5 set points and Oberhofer only 1,5. In the following duel, Jasmin Santer set the best score of the day for Kiens with 558 pins, her direct opponent Dagmar Wiedenhofer managed 531 pins and Kiens was 2:0 ahead.

Then it was Klara Lechner (Kiens) and Adele Ainhauser's (Sarnthein) turn. Ainhauser won with 500:479 pins and shortened the lead for Sarnthein, but Kiens captain Sonja Fischer struck back in the last duel against Angelika Stauder (Sarnthein). Fischer scored 548 pins, Stauder "only" 511 pins and Kiens was able to celebrate after the overall result was announced. The hosts were 48 pins ahead (2120:2072), which meant the final score was 5:1.

A draw in the cracker game For many years it has been the duel between the best skittle teams in this country, with Neumarkt always dominating in recent years. The Unterland team is currently missing star player Vilmos Zavarko, and the Fugger Sterzing are in top form. They proved this in the direct duel: the game ended 4:4.

It must also be noted that KK Neumarkt had a bad day in the Bliegerstadion. Only Tamás Kiss cracked the magic mark with his 606 pins, which all Neumarkt players normally have the potential for and which they have demonstrated in recent years. Kiss was immediately up against his former teammate Florian Thaler, and he won the duel with 606:561 pins (3:1 in set points).

But Sterzing struck back immediately, with Manuel Hofer scoring the best of the day with 607 pins, which put Georg Righi (526 pins) in his place. Franz Höller then beat Wolfgang Blaas 577:566 (2:2 in set points), putting the Fuggers in the lead 2:1. Erik Kuna managed to equalize in the following duel against Stefan Zini. Kuna scored 568 pins, Zini 540 pins.

Neumarkt even managed to make it 2:4 in the last two duels. First, Armin Egger defeated Egon Ralser from Sterzing with 2:564 pins, then Alex Posch followed up with a curious victory against Reinhard Gruber. He was behind with 557:579 pins, but had earned 589 set points, which allowed the match point to go to Neumarkt. Because the Fugger team knocked down a total of 3431 pins on their home track and Neumarkt had 3409 fewer pins with 22, the final score was 4:4. This means that Fugger remains further ahead in the table.

Neumarkt knows its Champions League opponent In addition to the rest of the first half of the season in the A1 class, KK Neumarkt will soon also be playing its first Champions League game. The first leg of the first round will take place on November 1rd in Leifers, the opponent is KK Konstruktor and comes from the Slovenian city of Maribor/Marburg.
