This is new: FCS coach criticizes his own players

So far, Pierpaolo Bisoli has defended his players at every press conference or even praised them effusively. However, after the bitter draw against Brescia, the FC Südtirol coach was not in good terms with some of his protégés. He didn't mince his words.

“Our substitutes didn’t help us today. They normally have to play better than those players who have already been on the pitch for 60 minutes. Instead, they lowered the level. “It hurts today, but it’s also my fault,” Bisoli explained afterward 1-1 against Brescia. Who exactly does the FCS coach mean by this? In came Lorenzo Lonardi, Jeremie Broh, Silvio Merkaj, Andrea Cisco and Emanuele Pecorino.

However, none of the jokers were able to put their stamp on the game - the FCS played against ten men for one half. Winger Cisco in particular didn't cut a good figure when the guests equalized. But it wouldn't be right to pass everything on to the substitutes. FC Südtirol simply has problems when they have to play the game themselves. This was clearly evident on Tuesday evening with one more man on the pitch.

“Our substitutes lowered the level today.” Pierpaolo Bisoli

“It's a difficult moment for us, but I don't want to call it a crisis. Sure, after three defeats in a row, the self-confidence is not high. You saw that in the second half,” said Bisoli, who was particularly satisfied with the first half of the game: “We were really strong and, above all, aggressive.”

The mood at FC Südtirol was already better.

When asked about the performance of his son Dimitri, who came on as a substitute against FCS at Brescia after a week-long injury layoff, father Bisoli explained: “He was just on the pitch and already shot on goal. He just wants to play and is very keen on it, even after only 2 training sessions. That’s exactly the kind of commitment I want to see from my players coming in.”

Isolated whistles in Bolzano

After the game there were a few whistles in the Drusus Stadium - on both sides of the stands. Captain Fabian Tait did not agree with this after the end of the game. Coach Bisoli, however, praised the audience at the press conference. Maybe also a calculation to get the fans back on the team's side.

Brescia scored the equalizer with 10 men.

Goalscorer Tait also spoke of “a difficult moment.” The Salurner saw what he saw as a perfect performance in the first half: “We have to play better in the second half. We have a young team that still needs to grow. We just need this hunger to really want to defend the goal. It’s normal that you always have good and bad phases in the game.”
