The new FC Südtirol presented in Ridnaun

Last season not everything went according to plan, during the championship the team went through many ups and downs, in the end it was “only” enough for a disappointing 10th place. This year the FCS wants to do better, but it will be very difficult because there are renowned, ambitious teams like Alessandria, Pavia, Padua, Cittadella, Bassano and Cremonese playing in the White-Snot Kris.

Eleven new arrivals Coach Giovanni Stroppa's new team is, on average, a little older and more experienced than in recent years. There are eleven new additions to the squad: goalkeeper Achille Coser, defenders Bandini, Bassoli and Crovetto, midfielders Lima and Girasole, and strikers Gliozzi, Kirilov, Maritato, Spagnoli and Tulli. It's a return for Bassoli and Maritato, as both have already played for the FCS.

Four South Tyroleans in the squad After the departure of Manuel Filehner and Hannes Kiem, four local players have received a professional contract: Hannes Fink, Michael Cia, Fabian Tait and Gabriel Brugger. They were all there last year. With the 18-year-old Lorenzo Melchiorri from Bolzano, a fifth South Tyrolean will get a contract before the end of the transfer period. The squad also includes Berretti players Alex Demetz and Davide Cremonini, and the new captain of the white-reds is Alessandro Furlan. The entire management team of FC Südtirol took part in the successful presentation of the new team: President Walter Baumgartner, Managing Director Dietmar Pfeifer, Vice President Johann Krapf and the sporting director Luca Piazzi. Also present were the owner of the Schneeberg Hotel, Andreas Kruselburger, as well as the mayors of Vipiteno and Ratschings, Karl Messner and Sebastian Helfer. “We have had a partially unsatisfactory season behind us,” said Dietmar Pfeifer, “but it wasn’t all negative. Our intention, our will, is there to be at the top of the league again, even if we are up against opponents with great pasts and ambitions. We want to play a great championship and build enthusiasm and excitement around the team again.”

The new FC Südtirol presented in Ridnaun

The new FC Südtirol was officially presented on Friday in Ridnaun at the Hotel Schneeberg. The White-Reds are taking part in the Lega Pro, the third highest championship in Italy, for the sixth year in a row and are starting again with the aim of being at the top.
