Brixen and Toblach say goodbye with victories

The IHL intermediate round is over. While Kaltern and Eppan can continue to dream of the title in the playoffs, the season is over for Brixen and Toblach. At the end there were 3 South Tyrolean victories.

The Hechte from Kaltern met Varese on the last match day of the Masterround. For the South Tyroleans it was about second place and home rights in the quarter-finals and a possible semi-final. The hosts from Lombardy quickly took the lead, but Moritz Selva and oldie Max Oberrauch turned the game in the Überetscher's favor. After another change of lead, the score at half time was 40:3 after 3 minutes. In the final section, Varese proved to be the more effective team and ultimately won 5-3. As a result, the traditional Lombard club caught up with leader Pergine.

The Pirates from Eppan, however, said goodbye to the Master Round with a win. They beat Alleghe 4-2 at home. Martin Graf gave the South Tyroleans the lead in the 13th minute. This was expanded in the second third by Tobias Chizzali. When William Makinen made it 3-0 at the beginning of the third period, the victory seemed certain, but the guests reduced it to 3-2 and only 5 seconds before the end Stefano Piechenstein secured the victory with a shot into the empty goal.

Varese still takes first place

Although the two remaining South Tyrolean representatives from Brixen and Dobbiaco were already safely eliminated, they each ended the 2023/24 season with victories.

The Falcons from Brixen won 3-2 at home after extra time against Feltreghiaccio. The South Tyroleans had to chase a 0-2 deficit for a long time. It was only in the final section that the cathedral townspeople really turned up the heat. Alex Maunula reduced the score to 1:2 and Elias Fauster equalized just a little later. Fauster hit the mark again in overtime and gave the hosts a home win.

The Eisbären from Dobbiaco, however, prevailed away against Valpellice. After a quick 2-0 lead, the hosts equalized before the first third break. Although the team from Piedmont was able to make up for another deficit, the South Tyroleans pulled away in the third third and deservedly won 6:3.
