Kaltern puts pirates in their place in the local derby
The penultimate matchday in the Master Round of the Italian Hockey League was dominated by the derby between SV Kaltern and HC Eppan. For the umpteenth time in the current season, the local rivals fought a rousing match, at the end of which the Hechte were able to celebrate.

HC Eppan and SV Kaltern had already met three times this year, and the Hechte had the upper hand twice. On Thursday, Kai Suikkanen's team extended that tally by celebrating a 3-1 win, led by the Virtala brothers.
The almost 300 fans had to wait a long time before they saw the first goal: In the 18th minute, Eppan's Simone Critelli struck in the power play. It didn't take long for the home side to respond, as shortly after the restart it was Jonas Oberrauch who equalized. Then the hour came for Teemu Virtala, who shot the Hechte into the lead for the first time in the 34th minute. The Hechte, who dominated the game, benefited in the third period from Noah Frick and Leo Zublasing having to sit in the penalty box at the same time. Kaltern took advantage of the double majority in the person of Marko Virtala. As a result, there was no reaction from the guests.
Brixen defeats Dobbiaco
In the second South Tyrolean derby of the evening, the Toblach Icebears and Falcons Brixen faced each other in a meaningless game. Meaningless because both teams no longer had a chance of making it to the pre-playoffs. The Brixen team found greater motivation and clearly won 3-0. The 17-year-old Erik Hofer became the match winner, scoring his first two goals of the season. Mattia Covelli was also successful.Italian Hockey League:
