The ice hockey exotic is leaving South Tyrol

He wasn't happy recently with the struggling Toblach Icebears. That's why Hector Majul decided to turn his back on South Tyrol and move to his league competitor.

The Toblach Icebears have a weekend celebrated their first victory after 16 defeats in a row. For Hector Majul it was the last game in the Eisbären uniform. As it became known on Sunday, the Mexican is moving to reigning champions Varese with immediate effect. As the club announced, this transfer is possible because Massimo Pietroniro received an Italian passport and a foreign position became available.

“The club did not make a hasty decision. Among the many possible alternatives, the choice fell on someone who is ready and immediately available to play in the IHL,” write the Mastini. The 29-year-old striker has many qualities: “He is physically strong, has an excellent shot, is able to score goals and is quick.” While Varese, which is in third place in the table, is strengthening itself again the Eisbären now don't have a single foreign player in their squad.

Hunt for the first title

Majul came to Italy in 2018, where he was under contract with Como for two years - with a short interlude in Finland. Last season he moved to Toblach, where he and Adam Capannelli formed the most dangerous duo in the league. Now he wants to win his first IHL title with Varese.
