Rangers and Panthers land the second coup

Last night (CEST), four series of the Stanley Cup playoffs in the NHL went into a Game 2. Two duels guarantee high tension, two have a clear favorite.

The New York Rangers confirmed their status as favorites. They also defeated the Washington Capitals 2-4 in Game 3 at Madison Square Garden and now lead 7-2 in the best-of-0 series. The special teams played a crucial role, five of seven goals came on the power play, including four powerplay goals and one shorthanded goal.


In the fiery Sunshine State series, the Florida Panthers celebrated again thanks to their first overtime goal in these playoffs. In the Amerant Bank Arena, the home team defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 after overtime. In a tight derby with a total of 121 checks (65:56), the Panthers got off to a better start and quickly led 2-0, but Tampa came back and forced overtime. Carter Verhaeghe ended this with the winning goal after 2:59 minutes.

The Colorado Avalanche equalized the series thanks to a strong second third against the Winnipeg Jets (5:2) and the Nashville Predators thanks to a strong start against the Vancouver Canucks (4:1).
