Wacey Rabbit is supposed to twirl in the Rienz Stadium

Rabbit comes from Alberta, has both a Canadian and an American passport and is 29 years old. The thoroughbred center forward has started to attract attention in Western Canada in the WHL. There, Rabbit skated so consistently that he quickly found his way to the AHL, where he quickly became a regular player. The left-shooter, drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2005, scored a total of 342 points (103 goals, 39 passes) in 64 AHL games, primarily for the Providence Bruins.

Wacey Rabbit's European career began in 2010. Medvescak Zagreb, then still in the EBEL, was his first stop. He recorded 39 points in what was then the Legionnaires' squad and then spent another season in the AHL (Milwaukee Admirals). In 2012 he moved to the Norwegian top club Lorenskog. After the first, convincing season, his contract was extended for another two years. After the end of the 2015 season, Rabbit followed the call of his then teammate LoVecchio and played with him in the “Asia League” with the Nippon Paper Cranes.

This year, the strong and fast striker began his preparation for the season in the Slovakian Extraliga with promoted team Nove Zamky, but now he decided to move to the Alps Hockey League. Together with Shayne Wiebe, he is now supposed to get the Wolves Express rolling.

Rabbit arrives in Brunico today

Rabbit arrives in Bruneck today and starts training on Thursday. At the home derby against Bozen on Friday, Cory Pritz and new purchase Wacey Rabbit should make their debut.

Curious detail on the side: At the end of August 2012, Lorenskog performed with Wacey Rabbit at the Rienz Stadium. He scored no fewer than three goals in the 6-0 win against Wolves. The air in the Pustertal seems to be good for the Canadian.

HC Pustertal found what they were looking for in their search for a dangerous attacker: the yellow-blacks signed Wacey Rabbit, who recorded 53 points in 44 games in the Asia League last season.
