Bagnaia moves closer to Martin with victory in Motegi

After the sprint, Francesco Bagnaia also won the MotoGP race at the Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix in Motegi.

The Italian reduced his deficit to the World Championship leader Jorge Martin from Spain to just ten points. This means that the World Championship finish is guaranteed to be exciting. Marc Marquez (ESP) came third, meaning the top three went to Ducati.

“I am super happy,” said the confident and safe “Pecco” Bagnaina on Sky after the "maximum" achieved this weekend. Jorge was much stronger, the pace was incredible, especially in the first ten laps. "I will approach the next races with the same ambition and the same strategy," said the now eight-time season winner.

There are still four race weekends to go: Phillip Island (Australia), Buriram (Thailand), Sepang (Malaysia) and the finale in Valencia in mid-November. Martin - who only started from eleventh position - was satisfied after a "super race". He was close to Pecco, but he had difficult braking moments in the last three laps.
