The clear 4-0 away victory of AT Verona Falconeri in the parallel match at Tennis Beinasco has resulted in a highly explosive table situation with one matchday to go: The South Tyroleans remain in first place with nine points due to the better individual match record ahead of the Scaligere, who are now level on points, while the Sardinians are lurking in third place with seven points and within striking distance.
Before the last matchday next Sunday, when the Rungger women will be guests in Verona and Cagliari will host Beinasco, it is still possible for Verena Meliss and Co. to take part in both the play-off and the play-out.
On the outdoor courts in Sardinia, the participation of the injured Angela Maria Fita Boluda was risked - primarily to ensure a better tactical starting position for the team. However, the Spaniard won the first singles match with a confident two-set victory over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6:3, 6:2) and put the team from Überetsch 1:0 ahead. Silvia Ambrosio lost to Alessandra Mazzola 3:6, 3:6, before Lara Pfeifer prevailed in a home-grown duel against Barbara Dessolis after an absolute thriller with 6:2, 3:6, 6:4. In the equally dramatic doubles match, Ambrosio and Verena Meliss had to bow to the host duo - for the first time this season - with 6:7(6), 5:7.
