Sportlich war es zuletzt sehr ruhig um Nick Kyrgios. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren spielte der Tennis-Badboy verletzungsbedingt gerade einmal ein einziges Match, und zwar im Juni 2023. Trotzdem war der Australier in den Schlagzeilen weiterhin präsent – vor allem, weil er letzthin zum schärfsten Kritiker von Jannik Sinner aufgestiegen ist.

Now Kyrgios has caused a stir again, but this time not with a criticism of Sinner, but with an announcement. The Australian wants to return to the tennis stage after his almost two-year injury break (knee, foot and hand problems). It is not surprising that the 29-year-old is making big noises. "I want to silence my critics," Kyrgios told the portal Code Sports.

"I've beaten almost everyone I've faced. I've made it to a Grand Slam final (Wimbledon 2022/loss to Djokovic, editor's note). I've won numerous titles and earned a lot of money. Now I want to win a Grand Slam tournament. That's the only way people will finally be quiet. That's my biggest motivation," said Kyrgios.

Der 29-jährige Australier wird im Dezember ein Show-Turnier bestreiten und will im Jänner 2025 bei den Australian Open aufschlagen. Dort geht Jannik Sinner als Titelverteidiger an den Start. Es ist jedenfalls ein pikantes Comeback, das sich in der Tennis-Szene anbahnt.
