Italy's giant slalom talent has to go under the knife

Before the start of the giant slalom season next weekend (26 and 27 October) in Sölden, the Italian ski team suffered a small setback.

Filippo Della Vite was injured during training in Sölden. The 23-year-old fell into the safety nets and suffered a broken thumb and a small cut on his right leg. This has already been stitched up with three stitches.

Della Vite will return to Milan on Monday, where he will be operated on by the FISI doctors. It is still unclear whether the Bergamasque will be able to compete next Sunday on the Rettenbachferner. Della Vite has finished in the top ten in four giant slaloms in the World Cup to date, with sixth place being his best result.
