Won two gold medals in one day: Max Perathoner © Social Media

Perathoner is also at the top of the station wagon

Max Perathoner did something memorable on Wednesday at the Junior World Championships in Chatel (France): The Wolkensteiner not only won the gold medal in the Super-G, but also in the newly founded team combination.

On Wednesday morning had Max Perathoner set the best time in the Super-G and thus won the first speed gold medal by a South Tyrolean at a Junior World Championships in 15 years. In 2009, Andy Plank triumphed in the downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen - ahead of Dominik Paris, by the way. In the evening, the man from Val Gardena stepped up his game, as he also triumphed in the team combination together with Edoardo Saracco.

With the best time in the Super-G, Perathoner had laid the foundation for success in the morning. In the night slalom, Saracco never gave up the top position. The 20-year-old showed a sparkling clean performance in the pole forest, defended his lead of 32 hundredths of a second over France (Alban Elezi Cannaferina & Antoine Azzolin) and celebrated winning the gold medal with Perathoner. Moritz Zudrell and Jakob Greber (Austria) completed the podium.

Thaler misses the podium

Italy missed out on a medal in the women's event. Sara Thaler from Ortisei and Ambra Pomaré gained four places and came fifth. Matilde Lorenzi and Emilia Mondinelli had to settle for fourth place. The Super-G world champion Malorie Blanc defended the top position with Anuk Brändli (Switzerland), followed by Victoria Bürgler and Natalie Falch (Austria) in second place. Stefanie Grob and Janine Mächler (Switzerland) came third.
