Ski legend leaves the ÖSV

Double Olympic champion Petra Kronberger will leave the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) at the end of the year at her own request. The Salzburg native was most recently responsible for the Optimal Sports division, which focuses on personality development and health development, among other things.

Kronberger returned to the ÖSV after her active career ended in the 2013s with the Schladming World Championships in 2020, when she was also responsible for the cultural program. Soon after, she became the women's representative for the alpine ski women in the ÖSV. Since 2021, Kronberger has been involved in the implementation of the Optimal Sports concept and took over management in autumn XNUMX.

As part of the current structural changes in the ÖSV, Optimal Sports will be integrated into the medical department. "I note this decision with respect," the 55-year-old was quoted as saying in an ÖSV press release. Optimal Sports has been independent and stand-alone since its presentation, and this has always been an important value for her.

"In my opinion, the new structure means that this is no longer the case and that is why I have decided to say goodbye to the ÖSV after eleven years," says Kronberger. ÖSV sports director Mario Stecher respected the decision, but also regretted it: "Optimal Sports is still intended to be independent - but as part of the structural changes, it was important to us to bundle all resources that deal with the topic of holistic health in the medical department." Stecher also highlighted Kronberger's development work.
