South Tyrol wins everything in the Junior World Cup

Jenny Castiglioni (ITA) celebrated her second win of the season in an impressive manner on the “Grantau” track in the Ötztal. With the best time in both runs (total time 2.33,23:17 minutes), the 1,96-year-old was superior to Sarah Schiller (GER/+2,90, 355 seconds) and her teammate Katharina Hofer (+290). After the fourth and final race, Castiglioni won the overall ranking for the first time in her career with two wins, a second and a third place with 265 points, followed by her teammate Tina Stuffer (200 points) and Schiller (XNUMX). Riccarda Ruetz (AUT), who won the first two races and had to end the season early after an injury, finished fourth with XNUMX points.

There was a quadruple victory for the South Tyroleans in the men's single-seater. Junior world champion Fabian Brunner outclassed the competition in 2.29,04:2,12 minutes. His teammates Hannes Unterholzner (+3,23 seconds), Anton Gruber Genetti (+3,66) and Alex Oberhofer (+3,96) followed in place, ahead of Florian Freigassner (AUT/+385). Brunner, who was on the podium in the General Class World Cup in Jaufental, secured overall victory with 315 points, ahead of the winner of the opening race in Winterleiten (AUT) Alex Oberhofer (286) and Hannes Unterholzner XNUMX).

In the doubles on Saturday on the 955 meter long “Grantau” track, Tobias Paur/Andreas Hofer narrowly beat their South Tyrolean teammates Anton Gruber Genetti/Hannes Unterholzner (+1.20,56 seconds) in 0,02:0,48 minutes. Third place went to the junior world champions Matevz Vertelj/Vid Kralj (SLO/370). Gruber Genetti/Unterholzner took overall victory with 355 points, followed by Paur/Hofer (295) and Vertelj/Kralj (XNUMX) in honorable places.

The highlight of the season will follow in a few days with the Junior European Championships in natural track tobogganing from March 3rd to 5th. February in Mariazell (AUT).
