Andrea Gios confident: Will have a broad championship

Andrea Gios starts his mandate full of ambition. "When you talk about projects, you have to set goals for the future. For this reason, we have decided to introduce new rules when hosting the top league. We want to improve our local players and want to try to help the young local players can develop into experienced players in Italy. We have also limited the scope from an economic and financial point of view. We want to prevent the clubs from being dependent on a large sponsor. One year these clubs can spend large sums of money, another year they are left without "We want healthy clubs from now on, with serious and concrete projects," Gios explained to the gathered media crowd in Bolzano on Friday.

Currently the Elite.A is close to a heart attack. This led to Gios recently signing a resolution in which he banned the four South Tyrolean clubs Eppan, Kaltern, Neumarkt and Val Gardena from taking part in the cross-border INL. This not only caused discussions in the four affected clubhouses and in the local ice hockey scene in general. The Austrian association also felt insulted and insisted on compliance with all agreements. Both associations are now negotiating the future. "We have a one-year release signed by Bolognini for the four South Tyrolean clubs in our files. For this reason, we would now like to bring these four teams back to Italy. Also to improve our own championship, which, to be honest, was even in jeopardy. However, a document has surfaced in Austria that was signed by Karl Linter. A three-year agreement was reached here. We will still stick to our position and hope for understanding from Austria. We are not doing all this to get one over on our Austrian colleagues, but rather for the good of our own ice hockey."

Should things calm down and have a positive outcome for the Italian Ice Sports Association, which former A2 clubs would then take part in the championship in the highest Italian league? "The association certainly didn't wake up one morning and just sign an emergency decision that stipulated that the top championship would only be played with four players and that some teams would be forced to take part in a certain championship. We have been in contact to some clubs that have expressed to us their interest in participating in the Elite.A, when fewer foreigners will be eligible to play. I have a letter here from Eppan and Val Gardena in which they confirm that they want to take part in the Elite.A. At "You have to look at the other clubs. In any case, we will do everything we can to ensure that as many teams as possible register for Elite.A," explained Tommaso Teofoli.
