Ice sledge hockey: Italy European champions
In Solleftea, Sweden, the Italian national sledge hockey team won the European championship title for the first time. The “Azzurri” defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 in the final and took revenge for the 0-3 defeat in the preliminary round. The two goals in the final were scored by Florian Planker from Val Gardena, top scorer for the Italians with six goals, and Gregory Leperdi. Bronze went to defending champions Norway, who surprisingly lost to Italy in the semifinals.
