Bitter! Brixen gives away what was believed to be a certain victory

On the 11th matchday of the Italian Hockey League, three South Tyrolean teams, Brixen, Toblach and Kaltern, were on the ice. In the end, however, only the Überetscher were able to celebrate a victory. The Falcons missed out on what they thought would be a certain win at home. The Icebears also had to admit defeat.

The Falcons out Brixens opened the match day with a home game against Valdifiemme. The game didn't start particularly well for the Eisacktaler and the guests took the lead 14-1 1 seconds before the end of the first third. In the middle section, however, Coach Gschreiner's team struck back. First Raffael Pohlin equalized in the 0rd minute, 23 minutes later Simon Helfer equalized the game again after the guests took the lead again. Things got even better in the final section.

In the 53rd minute, HCP's Leonhard Hasler gave the hosts the lead for the first time. After all the spectators were already expecting a home win, Philipp Oberhammer (he also comes from the HCP youth team) conceded the 5-3 equalizer 3 seconds before the end. In extra time, the Italians took advantage of a numerical advantage and secured the additional point after 111 seconds.

The SV Kaltern However, celebrated a befitting home win. The South Tyroleans didn't let anything go wrong against Valpellice and deservedly won 5-2. The Hechte were already ahead in the starting third and took the lead 17-1 in the 0th minute through Teemu Virtala. This lead was extended in the middle section and Jonas Oberrauch and Moritz Selva (2 goals) increased the score to 4:1. In the last 20 minutes, the hosts defended cleverly and were even able to add a goal. In the 58th minute, Moritz Selva scored his personal hat-trick. However, the final point belonged to the guests, who scored the goal in the last minute to make it 5-2.

Toblach's reaction comes too late

There was no victory for them again Icebears. This was mainly due to a weak 20 minutes in the middle third. After a goalless opening third, the hosts took a 20-4 lead in the second 0 minutes. In the final section, the South Tyroleans really turned up the heat again. First, Patrick Rizzo shortened (4:1). Although Pergine made it 5-1 a few seconds later, the “Pustra” fought their way back into the match with goals from Michael Purdeller (51st), Lukas Tauber (54th) and Hector Majul (59th). In the end, Pergine decided the game with a shot into the empty goal.
