After a dramatic appeal, the next bankruptcy follows: Oilers on the ground

Nine defeats in eleven games. This is the record of the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL. All alarm bells are now ringing in Alberta.

On Monday, Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft and his star players Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl faced the press. They promised improvement with dramatic words. “It's like death by a thousand cuts right now. That’s what it feels like,” Captain McDavid said. But now it is clear that the suffering in Edmonton continues.

The blue-oranges lost 2:6 in Vancouver on Monday evening (local time) and already have nine defeats after eleven games this season in the NHL. Only the San Jose Sharks, who have lost all ten games so far have started the season even worse.

Draisaitl scored the second goal to make it 2-3, after which, as so often this season, Edmonton collapsed completely. The Oilers started the season with ambitions for the championship, but then lost the first leg against the Canucks with a clear score of 1:8. They are one of the biggest disappointments in the NHL so far. For Vancouver, however, it was the fourth win within a week.

Spectacle in Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs made a strong comeback. The Canadians overcame a 1:4 deficit against the Tampa Bay Lightning in front of their home crowd and won 6:5 in overtime.
