The Red Wings are deep in crisis

The Detroit Red Wings' losing streak in the NHL continues. Detroit lost 2:5 against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday (local time) – it was the fourth defeat in a row.

“If you look at the goals they scored today, they didn’t have to try particularly hard,” said German Moritz Seider. “We simply gave them first-class chances, and of course that hurts.” The 22-year-old defender scored his 19th scorer point to make it 2-4 to superstar Patrick Kane.

While the team from the Canadian province of Manitoba celebrated its seventh win from the last nine games, the Wings, who started the season strongly, have now fallen behind in the fight for their first playoff participation since 2016. The team now has to “pull themselves together and find their game again through simple things,” said Seider.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Kraken beat the Los Angeles Kings 2-1. The Washington Capitals won against the New York Islanders 3-2 after overtime - even though star striker Alexander Ovechkin remained scoreless for the 14th game in a row. The Russian, who is chasing Wayne Gretzky's all-time goal record (894), only has 17 points (5 goals) in 28 games this season.
