From scandal man to hero: Evander Kane's big evening

The Edmonton Oilers prevented the next bitter setback in the NHL with late goals. Mainly responsible for this: Evander Kane.

In the second game under new coach Kris Knoblauch, the team won 4-3 after extra time against the Seattle Kraken last night (CET). With seven and a half minutes to go, the Oilers were still down 1-3, and they only equalized 46 seconds before the buzzer.

After Connor McDavid scored Edmonton's 1-0, his teammate Evander Kane became the star of the evening. With a brace he equalized the Kraken's 3-1 lead and finally scored the winning goal in overtime. The former scandalous player, who drew attention to himself with numerous escapades and misconduct off the ice until he moved to Alberta a year ago, is increasingly becoming a top performer at the traditional club.

For Kane, this was his 15th point scorer in the 15th game of the season. The Oilers now boast five wins. For the Kraken it was the third defeat after overtime this season.
