Italy celebrates second victory in the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge

After the clear 4-0 win at the start against Lithuania, the Cornacchia team had more trouble against Romania. Italy retained the upper hand 1-9 against the Eastern Europeans in their last meeting at the 0st Division World Cup in Torun.

This time Cornacchia put Tragust between the posts and gave Vipiteno defender Hackhofer a chance to play for the first time. For this he had to do without Plastino, Insam and Gander. Right from the start, the Romanians stood up to the Italians and were immediately able to equalize Iori's opening goal through Antal. Marchetti gave Italy the lead again, but 17 seconds before the first third siren, Molnar defeated goalie Tragust for the second time.

At the beginning of the second third, the Vipiteno goalkeeper had to fall behind again when Antal made it 3-2. Now the “Azzurri” were definitely shaken up and from then on they laid siege to the Romanian corps. In the 40th minute, Felicetti finally scored the deserved equalizer. In the final period an open exchange of blows developed in which Anton Bernard scored the winning goal in the power play after 57.33. Edwardson and Lutz did the preparatory work.

On Saturday at 17.30:XNUMX p.m., Italy and hosts Ukraine will determine the tournament winner in the final game.
