a Serie A

The Conte era begins with a great disillusionment

The new Serie A season has started with a big disappointment for Napoli: The champions of the 2022/23 season were defeated in the opening match in Verona.

That was nothing: That's how much Napoli had hoped for from their new coach Antonio Conte. The former Juve and Inter champion maker is expected to lead the Vesuvius players back to the Scudetto in three years at the latest. On Sunday, however, they suffered a 0-3 defeat at Hellas Verona.

For former FCS coach Paolo Zanetti, however, it was a more than successful debut on the Veronese bench. Napoli, on the other hand, did not get going at all. The game was very reminiscent of the previous season, which was already one to forget. In this form, Conte's team from Inter, Juventus & Co. is not to be feared. President Aurelio De Laurentis will probably have to strike on the transfer market.

In the parallel match, FC Bologna missed out on their first win of the season. The Champions League participant with their new coach Vincenzo Italiano could only manage a 1:1 draw against Udinese Calcio. The report on Saturday's matches can be found .
