Two penalties missed: Milan desperate at the penalty spot

With a crazy game at the end of the seventh round, Serie A says goodbye to the international break.

Milan has been on a rollercoaster of emotions so far. After a bad start to the Serie A season, the Milanese have rehabilitated themselves (including a derby win against Inter). But now the engine is sputtering again. They lost 1-2 to Fiorentina on Sunday - partly because the Milanese are showing nerves.

Milan were awarded two penalties, but both times they were stopped by Fiorentina's goalkeeper Davide De Gea. The former Spanish national goalkeeper showed an outstanding performance and first drove Theo Hernandez (45th+1) and then Tammy Abraham (56th) to despair. The crazy penalty shootout began in the 22nd minute when Moise Kean also missed a penalty for Fiorentina. Three penalties, three times no goal - something like that is extremely rare.

While the strong Kean was able to celebrate with Fiorentina at the end, the disappointment at Milan was huge. Christian Pulisic (60th) had equalized Yacine Adli's (35th) deficit, but Albert Gudmundsson scored with a powerful shot to make it 2-1 (73rd). Now the Serie A clubs are heading into the international break.
