Duel of the giants at the Three Peaks Run

In just under two weeks, last year's winner Manuel Innerhofer (Pinzgau) will challenge the course record holder and three-time Three Peaks race winner Petro Mamu from Eritrea in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. Both top runners recently confirmed their participation.

Manuel Innerhofer comes to Sexten on Saturday, September 11th as defending champion. A year ago, the man from Pinzgau won on a shortened route in 1:24.15 hours. Innerhofer will be Petro Mamu's hunter this year, who is the absolute top favorite not only because of his three successes in the South Tyrolean mountain running classic (2013, 2016, 2019). Two years ago, the former world champion from Eritrea set a new course record in 1:22.37 hours. This is not in danger this year because, like last year, the shortened version is used again, in which the loop through Sexten is omitted and the route goes straight from the start towards Moos.

“We are of course thrilled that we have two absolute top athletes at the start in Mamu and Innerhofer. With the Swiss Martin Anthamatten, whose participation has been confirmed for a long time, another top runner will be taking part in around two weeks. Among the women, the British Phlippa Williams and the Swiss Viktoria Kreuzer are currently our absolute top favorites. But we are convinced that a few other top mountain runners will join us in the coming days,” says OC boss Gottfried Hofer from the organizing ALV Sextner Dolomiten. Participation only with Green Pass It has also recently become clear that participants in the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run must have the Green Pass. A requirement that now applies to almost all sporting events worldwide. “We consider ourselves lucky and grateful that we can hold our run in the beautiful mountains around the Three Peaks even under the still special circumstances amid the corona pandemic. These special circumstances require special measures from all of us and great consideration for our neighbors. We are convinced that we act in the interests of all our participants,” emphasizes Hofer.
