The big question mark about Novak Djokovic

The grass court classic in Wimbledon begins next week. There is one big question beforehand: will Novak Djokovic be there or not?

Seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic has not yet revealed whether he will compete in the tennis classic this year. The 37-year-old Serb is training in London after his knee operation, but wants to wait and see how he feels in the next few days. The third Grand Slam tournament of the season begins next Monday.

When asked by the British broadcaster BBC about his chances, Djokovic replied that he had not come just to play a few rounds. The world number two said he would take it day by day and decide with his team in the next four to six days.

"If I know I can play close to the maximum or at the maximum, then I will play. If not, then I will give someone else the chance to play," Djokovic explained.

Meniscus tear and surgery

At the French Open, he suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during his round of 24 victory against the Argentinian Francisco Cerúndolo. Djokovic then withdrew from the quarterfinals of the clay court tournament in Paris and underwent surgery. The winner of XNUMX Grand Slam tournaments is currently training for the highlight of the grass tennis season with a bandage on his right knee.
