ITF Innsbruck: Verena Hofer fails in the first round

Verena Hofer, who was right in the main field, had bad luck at the tournament north of the Brenner and had to deal with number two on the seed list, the “Azzurra” Bianca Turati, right at the start. They lived up to their role as favorites and won 6:7(5), 6:1, 6:2. For Hofer, the tournament in Innsbruck is already over.

Four South Tyroleans eliminated in qualifying

In addition to Hofer, four other South Tyroleans were on duty in Innsbruck. For everyone, however, the final stop was already in qualifying. The national champion Vera Ploner lost after two wins against the Italians Giulia Cascapera (6:1, 6:3) and fifth-seeded Lisa Bastianello (6:7, 6:1, 6:4) in the decisive round of the US American Zoe Gewn Scandalis 1:6, 3:6.

The 15-year-old Magdalena Santer from Lana won her first ITF tournament in the first qualifying round against the Austrian Franziska-Anna Hotter 6:4, 7:5 before she met number seven seed Anna Turati in round two Had to admit defeat 2:6, 1:6.

In the men's race, Patric Prinoth and Simon Berger were also eliminated in the second round. Prinoth first defeated Roland Edtberger 6:0, 6:0 before losing to David Novotny from Germany 7:6(5), 1:6, 6:7(9). After his 6:1, 6:1 win against the Bulgarian Kiril Zahariew, Berger lost out to the Austrian Gabriel Schmidt 1:6, 5:7.

Jasmin Ladurner in action in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The Meran native will be playing in the $10.000 tournament in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this week. In the singles, she will face number five on the seeding list, the German Lisa Ponomar, in the first round. The two will also face each other in the first round of the doubles competition, which Ladurner will tackle together with her compatriot Marianna Natali and Ponomar together with Alexandra Nancarrow. The German-Australian duo is number two.
